Territory returned to Armenian Foundation in Istanbul and to be turned into theme park
According to the Turkish law on return of belongings to ethnic minorities, the territory located in the Zeitinburu district of Istanbul has been handed over to the Surp Prkich Armenian Hospital’s Foundation. However, by the decision of the city’s council of elders, it will be turned into a theme park, reports Ermenihaber.am.
The decision was taken after the district council of Zeitinburun appealed to the council of elders of Istanbul to turn the territory into a theme park instead of the mall that it was supposed to be. The appeal was unanimously approved, and currently, the territory belonging to the Armenian hospital will become of public importance.
In response to the decision of the municipality’s council of elders, representatives of the Armenian hospital’s Foundation have mentioned that the proposal to turn the territory into a theme park, which was made by placing public interest above all interests, is against the administrative law and the principles of reliability and continuation of a legal state.
CNN Turk reports that the Foundation’s representatives will appeal the decision in order to freeze the plan.
