Catholicos Aram I meets with Iranian parliamentary speaker

In Tehran Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia discussed issues related to the fight against terrorist groups in the Near East.

During the conversation with Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Larijani, the Supreme Patriarch attached importance to Iran’s role in the fight against terrorism in the region, particularly in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. The Catholicos stressed the fact that the whole world appreciates Tehran’s constructivism in the fight against terrorism, reports “ArmenPress”, citing the Iranian Tasnim news agency.

In his turn, Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Ali Larijani called terrorism a “fire” that causes a threat to all nations. According to him, terrorist groups have created several problems for the followers of all religions in the region, and the strategies of the super powers aren’t very effective.

Touching upon the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and Levante (ISIL), Larijani said the coalition is “quite ineffective” for the fight against the terrorists.
