Hadrut hosts first wine festival in Artsakh

The first wine festival in Artsakh was held in Togh village of Hadrut region on October 18.

The festival was organized by the Department of Tourism and Preservation of the Historical Environment adjunct to the Government of the NKR and was called for reinforcing the development of villages located on the South Tourism Railway through tourism and having a positive impact on the development of tourism in the NKR.

The festival is also important from the angle of the renaissance of traditions of winemaking in Artsakh. Starting this year, there will be a new platform for winemakers in Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia through which they will be able to sell and advertise their products, exchange their experiences and more.

The program of the festival included the ancient and unique ritual of winemaking, that is, squeezing wine in tubs, traditional foods of Artsakh, an exhibition-sale of works of art, a showing of archaeological items found in the Melik Palace of Togh village and, of course, exhibition-sale of wine producers showcasing the wines made in five regions of Artsakh and in Armenia. The festival included performances of Armenian national songs and dances.
