9 Turk officers to be interrogated for Dink case

The previously made decision to terminate persecution against nine state servants charged with negligence of service for the case of Hrant Dink has been annulled. The Turkish Sabagh reports that the Turkish Ministry of Justice has permitted the engagement of 9 state servants in the trial, among which is Jelalettin Jerrah, who was Head of Security of Istanbul during Dink’s murder.

Earlier, based on the Dinks’ complaint, there had been a demand to interrogate Deputy Governor of Istanbul Ergun Gungior, then Head of the Department of Security Jelalettin Jerrah, Head of the Department of Prosecutions of Istanbul Ilhan Guler and six police officers, but after Istanbul Municipality’s petition, the Prosecutor General’s Office made a decision to not persecute the above mentioned persons. After that, the Dinks appealed to the 8th Court of Heavy Crimes of Istanbul with the same demand, and the court annulled the decision to not persecute the state servants.

This time the governor’s office of Istanbul has appealed to the Turkish Ministry of Justice with the opposite demand. The ministry has sent the decision back to the Prosecutor General’s Office, paving the way for the engagement of the nine officers, reports Ermenihaber.am.
