On October 9, the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon hosted a reception dedicated to the anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia for the first time ever.

The RA MFA news service reports that Armenian Ambassador to France Vigen Chitechyan and Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Marseilles Vartan Sirmakesh also participated in the event with Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon Nikolay Sarkisov.

Among others attending the event were the mayors of the Ron-Alp region, representatives of regional, district and community authorities, French parliamentarians, the Consul Generals of different countries accredited to Lyon, French-Armenian clergymen, hundreds of public, political and cultural figures and media representatives.

The event included welcoming remarks by RA Consul General in Lyon Nikolay Sarkisov, after which Ambassador Chitechyan and Consul General Sarkisov granted certificates of appreciation to several citizens of the Republic of Armenia and French-Armenians for their support to the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon.
