The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin strictly condemns terrorist groupings’ bombing of the Holy Martyrs Armenian Church of Deir Zor, which is a cherished holy place for the Armenians. The destruction of the church containing relics of martyrs of the Armenian Genocide is disrespectful towards the Armenian people and the memory of the holy martyrs.

The incident is an overt manifestation of going against the Armenian people’s just aspirations for claims ahead of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The incident is inhumane barbarity and can’t be justified by any religion or ideology hinged on divinity and humanitarian values.

We urge all Armenians to show more respect towards our martyrs and make the conspiracies of evildoer lead to failure. We also urge the international community to condemn the mentioned atrocity in order to prevent the likely repetition of such crimes.
