Pro-Armenian, British MP Ben Whitaker has passed away

Former Member of the UK Parliament Ben Whitaker, who recognized the Armenian Genocide with his report for the UN Subcommittee on Protection of Minorities and Prevention of Discrimination, has passed away. He was 79 years old.
Known for his progressive views and for defending the rights of minorities, Whitaker was appointed Britain’s representative to the UN Subcommittee in 1975 and prepared a report confirming the Armenian Genocide in 1985, in spite of Turkey’s pressures. Whitiker also condemned the UK government’s position on not clearly recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
