On June 13-15, for the first time ever, the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon participated in the annual “Celebrations of Consulates” event in Lyon along with the consulates of more than 70 countries. Armenia’s pavilion hosted several citizens of Lyon, as well as the consuls and tourists of foreign countries.

In his speech at the opening ceremony of the “Celebrations of Consulates” on June 13, Mayor of Lyon-Senator Gerard Colombe welcomed the establishment of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon, after which he visited the Armenian pavilion.

On the same day, the mayor of Lyon served a dinner in honor of the attending Consuls and Ambassadors as part of the “Celebrations of Consulates” event. RA Ambassador to France Vigen Chitechyan and First Secretary of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon Vaner Harutyunyan also attended the dinner.

Armenian culture, tourism, literature and symbols of Armenia were presented at the Armenian pavilion set up through the combined efforts of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon and the members of the Armenian community of Lyon on June 14-15.

During the three-day event, those visiting the Armenian pavilion were introduced to photos showing the landscapes and sites worth seeing in Armenia and Artsakh. The Nairi Dance Ensemble performed Armenian folk dances at Belcoug Square in central Lyon, reports the RA MFA press service.
