In Armenia the relief programs for Kessab-Armenians are taking new forms. There are initiatives that are not only directed to support them, but also to create conditions for Kessab-Armenians to be able to provide themselves with normal living conditions with their work. In his interview with “Armenpress”, author of the initiative Varuzhan Avetikyan said, that now they are looking for supporters to be able to help those Kessab-Armenians, who want to return to their homeland. A set of recommendations is being compiled, the final version of which will be ready in the next two weeks. The goal is that Syrian-Armenians clearly know what the state is offering them, and what they can do coming to Armenia. Now Avetikyan is negotiating with foundations, commercial organizations and individuals. “One organization or one person cannot do this work alone. Our compatriots who want to come back to Armenia and live here need to be provided with shelter, job, opportunity to start their own business and to use the services. Conditions should be created for them to integrate and be able to invest their skills and knowledge in Armenia” – said Avetikyan, adding that coming to Armenia Syrian-Armenians should not abandon the country.
