Literary-musical event dedicated to the 145th anniversary of Hovhannes Tumanyan at the Home of Nations of Moscow

A literary-musical event dedicated to the 145th anniversary of Hovhannes Tumanyan was held at the Home of Nations in Moscow on May 27. The event was organized by the Union of Armenians of Russia, the Home of Nations of Moscow and the Department for Interregional Cooperation, Domestic Policies and Relations with Religious Organizations of the city of Moscow, as reported by the RA Embassy in Moscow to “Hayern Aysor”.
The event was hosted by representative of the local Armenian community, Doctor of Philological Sciences, senior scientific worker of the Gorky Institute of World Literature of Moscow, lecturer of the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University after Lomonosov, B. Zulumyan. Zulumyan briefly presented Hovhannes Tumanyan’s career and specially focused on the fact that Tumanyan headed the committee for refugees established in Etchmiadzin in the wake of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
The event included speeches by historians, renowned Armenian and Russian writers, as well as readings of Tumanyan’s poems.
The event ended with the screening of a documentary devoted to Tumanyan and a performance of a short play based on one of the great poet’s fairy tales.
Second secretary of the RA Embassy V. Melkumova participated in the event.
