Catholicos of All Armenians presented with high award of the UVDL-“Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan” Medal

On May 26, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received President of the Union of Volunteer Defenders of Land (UVDL), Lieutenant-General Manvel Grigoryan, Mayor of Vagharshapat Karen Grigoryan and members of the UVDL administration at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Head of the Divan of the Mother See, Bishop Arshak Khachatryan also attended the meeting.

In the beginning, Mr. Manvel Grigoryan expressed his gratitude to His Holiness for the Divine and eternal Liturgy served at the Mother Temple and the churches of the Armenian Dioceses and for the Requiem Mass for the souls of the deceased freedom fighters to rest in peace on the Day of the Defenders of the Land, after which the President of the UVDL transmitted the high award of the UVDL, the “Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan” Medal to the Catholicos of All Armenians.

The Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his satisfaction with the award and accepted it as a symbol of the life that the dedicated Armenians sacrificed for the Homeland and the blood that they shed. His Holiness expressed his appreciation of President of the UVDL Manvel Grigoryan and the Union’s members as he addressed their personal dedication and contributions to the liberation of Artsakh and the cherished act of maintaining peace on the borders of the Mother Homeland. Catholicos Karekin II wished the UVDL strength and that the defenders of land continue their service for the maintenance of freedom and the implementation of wishes with the spirit of unity and the warm feeling of patriotism. The Catholicos also stressed the fact that the Armenians will always have the spirit of patriotism and that history and heroic figures will continue to inspire the Armenians to work for the welfare of the Homeland.
