RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan receives Armenologists from the University of Leipzig

On May 21, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received representative of the Department of Modern History of the Center for the History, Culture and Humanities in Eastern and Central Europe at the University of Leipzig, Professor Stefan Troyebst, as well as project creator, Armenologist, Dr. Balint Kovach and Deputy Director of the National Archives of Armenia Edgar Hovhan.
Since 2008, the Center has been implementing the study on “Armenians in the Economy and Culture of Eastern and Central Europe (14th-19th Centuries)”, which is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research. The study will be completed in 2016.
Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan briefly presented the history of the Armenian Diaspora, as well as the programs and activities of the Ministry of Diaspora. The minister also reflected on the activities of the German-Armenian community and mentioned that there are Armenian communities in nearly 100 countries around the world. The minister added that Armenians are able to integrate and make great contributions to the society, science and culture of any country, including Germany.
Professor Stefan Troyebst presented the study and the upcoming programs, and Dr. Balint Kovach suggested cooperating with the RA Ministry of Diaspora to implement the programs with Armenian communities in Eastern and Central Europe.
The sides also discussed the possibility of a conference that will be organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the University of Leipzig.
