This is what the film’s director Serj Avetikian, who plays the role of Sergey Parajanov in the film, said during a press conference, reports “ArmenPress”. “I’m very pleased. It was very hard to have this film be available for rent in France, even though the film has already won five awards. We’re happy that the film will be announced for rent at Cannes,” Avetikian mentioned.

In addition, Avetikian underlined the fact that this year he will travel to India and will be showing his film at different festivals. “I never make a film to win because if that’s the only thing a director thinks about, he’s not making a film, but doing something else. I felt that I was doing something right, it was Parajanov himself. I wasn’t afraid of playing the role. I believed there shouldn’t be any imitation. I had to be like Parajanov, but I had to leave a space for him to become a part of me. You have to let the character become a part of you. It’s a big risk,” Serj Avetikian added.

Director, actor Serj Avetikian’s film Parajanov was the favorite at this year’s “Hayak” Awards, receiving four awards in the Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Artist categories.
