Support to orphans in Javakhk

On 11 May, 61 orphans of Javakhk gathered under the arches of the Holy Cross Armenian Church of Akhalkalak. After the Divine and eternal Liturgy, the representatives of the Vicariate of the General Prelacy of Javakhk distributed the subsequent donations from the Fund for Armenian Relief.

For more than a decade, this charitable organization has been expanding its circles and has been extending a helping hand to children who were born in Javakhk and have felt the bitterness of being an orphan. This sunny day in May was another happy and promising day for the orphans.

In their prayers, the children remembered the benefactors, the program’s organizers and all those who live in the United States, but don’t spare any effort to make their contributions to the orphans of Javakhk.

In his speech addressed to the people at the church, Vicar of the General Prelacy of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Archimandrite Babgen Salbiyan expressed gratitude to Prelate of the U.S. Eastern Diocese, Archbishop Khazhak Parsamian, Managing Director of the FAR U.S. Office Karnig Nanagulian, coordinator of the ARS Armenia Office Edik Karapetyan and all those who have helped make the pro-national charity event a success.

The Fund for Armenian Relief was established in 1988 by the blessing and through the support of Prelate of the U.S. Eastern Diocese, Archbishop Khazhak Parsamian with the purpose of providing immediate humanitarian assistance to the Armenians who were in need after the devastating Spitak Earthquake.

Currently, the FAR is involved in humanitarian assistance, provides more social and economic assistance and supports educational programs.

The Fund’s CASP Program is aimed at providing social aid to orphans and is carried out in Armenia and Artsakh, as well as Javakhk. The program was launched in Akhalkalak and spread to the villages of the region. The program is for 61 children who are able to solve certain social and domestic issues through this contribution.
