On May 5, His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received newly elected Chairman of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan.

His Holiness congratulated Galust Sahakyan on being elected Chairman of the RA National Assembly and wished him success. Touching upon the different challenges facing the ARmenian nation, the Supreme Patriarch expressed confidence that the Chairman of the National Assembly and Deputies of the National Assembly, being the people who show the people’s aspirations and expectations and with a high sense of awareness of the national interests and with legislative regulations, will achieve success in helping the country progress and helping people live a good and dignified life.

During the meeting, the sides particularly touched upon the relations between the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church and the RA National Assembly, as well as the role of the Armenian Church as a unique structure that consolidates the nation. In regard to this, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed satisfaction with the effective cooperation established between the Armenian Church and the RA National Assembly.

In his turn, the newly elected Chairman of the RA National Assembly praised the role of the Armenian Church in people’s lives and deemed joint efforts to overcome the challenges facing the Armenian nation as necessary. The Catholicos of All Armenians and the NA Chairman attached importance to further cooperation between the Mother See and the RA National Assembly.

In the end, the Catholicos of All Armenians wished the NA Chairman guidance of the Holy Spirit in his responsible mission.
