On Apr. 7, the California State Assembly unanimously passed the Armenian Genocide Resolution authored and submitted by California State Assembly Speaker John Perez. After the passing of the Resolution, leaders of the Armenian National Committee of America had a meeting with Perez to express gratitude for his support to solving the issues concerning the Armenian American community.

Among the major issues was California State Assembly’s assurance of recognition of the Republic of Artsakh, the Turkey-backed attack on Kessab and the deportations of the Armenians in the region, as well as the ANCA’s “Thank You, America” campaign ahead of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, which is aimed at shedding light on America’s support to the children of Armenian Genocide survivors.

“We are deeply grateful to California State Assembly Speaker John Perez for joining the Armenian National Committee on its visit to Armenia and are especially moved by his decision to author and submit the Armenian Genocide Resolution. During the meeting, we had the opportunity to discuss in detail several issues concerning the Armenian American community, particularly issues concerning our brothers and sisters of Artsakh and Kessab,” said Chairwoman of the Armenian National Committee-Western Region Nora Hovsepian.
