Protest in defense of Armenians deported from Kessab

On Mar. 28 at 14:00, hundreds of Armenians accepted the invitation from the Armenian Youth Federation and the Compatriotic Union of Kessab and held a protest in front of the Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles.

For two hours, the protesters marched in front of the Turkish Consulate with signs condemning the Turkey-backed attacks on Kessab.

In the end, the protesters transmitted their letter to member of Los Angeles City Council Paul Kerkorian, Acting Mayor of Montebello Jack Hajinian, Executive Director of ANCA-WR Ellen Asadourian, as well as representatives of the Compatriotic Union of Kessab and the Armenian Youth Federation.

The speakers all stressed the fact that we are all from Kessab and that we must not allow the Turkish government to repeat their genocidal crimes. They also demanded that the U.S. government stop the support to armed extremists perpetrating the massacres against Christians and ethnic minorities in Syria and demand that its “ally” Turkey put an end to the genocidal acts against the Syrian-Armenians in general and the Armenians of Kessab in particular.

In the end, the protesters sang the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia.
