Edward Nalbandyan met with Serbian FM Ivan Mrkic in Yerevan

On Mar. 10, Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan met with Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic, who is an on official visit to Yerevan.

Minister Nalbandyan greeted the guest and mentioned that the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Serb nations expressed through various manifestations of mutual support serves as a good basis for promoting interstate partnership.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation to visit Armenia and the warm reception, Minister Mrkic said he was very pleased to visit Yerevan, the purpose of which is to raise the cooperation between the two countries to a new level.

The items on the agenda were the preparations for the Serbian President’s upcoming visit to Armenia, expansion of the juridical-contractual field, strengthening of cooperation within international organizations, reinforcement of trade and economic relations, activities of the activities of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups and issues on decentralized cooperation.

The issues facing the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the context of the Serbian chairmanship in 2015 were discussed.

Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs talked about the process of negotiations with Kosovo and praised Armenia’s balanced position in this context.

Minister Nalbandyan presented Armenia’s and the international community’s joint efforts for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution, and Minister Mrkici reaffirmed support to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ efforts.

The interlocutors exchanged views on regional and international issues.

 After the meeting, Edward Nalbandyan and I van Mrkic signed an agreement on double tax evasion between Armenia and Serbia.

The signing ceremony was followed by a joint press conference, reports the RA MFA press service.
