Concert on a yacht, release of sound library as part of events dedicated to Charles Aznavour in Paris

Several events are scheduled in light of Charles Aznavour’s 90th anniversary in Paris.

The Armenian General Benevolent Union’s Paris Chapter will also participate in the events and has already launched its activities. Haig Potukian, who is in charge of organizing the Chapter’s events, told “ArmenPress” that the AGBU’s events serve as a unique tribute to the great singer.

“This year Charles Aznavour is turning 90 years old. We would like to pay tribute to him by organizing several events. It’s very hard to mobilize the French-Armenian community, and we’re trying to preserve the Armenian identity with these kinds of concerts,” said Potukian. Potukian informed that a sound library comprised of 32 albums featuring the world famous singer’s songs will be released on April 28th. The sound library includes Aznavour’s songs composed between the years of 1948 and 2011. “Being an expert of Charles Aznavour’s music, I have actively participated in the preparation of the sound library comprised of the 32 albums. I usually work on everything that is related to Aznavour, including books, films and recordings,” said Potukian.

Haig Potukian also said Aznavour will be giving a concert in Armenia and that the AGBU will continue to pay homage to the renowned singer.
“The next concert dedicated to Aznavour will be held on Anaco Yacht in Paris on May 15th. The concert will include a performance by singer Joana Mendil and her jazz trio,” added Potukian. The singer performed Aznavour’s songs during an event organized by AGBU Paris Chapter last year.

The Armenian General Benevolent Union was founded in Cairo (Egypt) on April 15, 1906 by famous Armenian figure Boghos Nubar and prominent representatives of the Egyptian-Armenian community for the spiritual and cultural uplift of the Armenian people. Today, the AGBU has chapters in several cities around the world. On Mar. 7, the AGBU Paris Chapter held a concert dedicated to Charles Aznavour. The talk show called “Charles’ Life” was held at the AGBU Alex Manoogian Cultural Center and included performances of Aznavour’s songs by singer Benois Marshal.
