Israel awards Armenian doctor for saving Jews during the Holocaust, singer Anna Khachatryan receives the award
Armenian military doctor Harutyun Khachatryan has received the posthumous “Righteous Among the Nations” Award of the Yad Vashem Museum-Institute of Israel, reports Massis Post.
Israel’s Ambassador to Armenia Smuel Meirom and Armenia’s Honorary Consul in Israel Ashot Shahmuradyan presented Harutyun Khachatryan’s medal to his granddaughter, singer Anna Khachatryan.
According to the source, the Khachatryans’ award was announced during an event attended by RA President Serzh Sargsyan and Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan last year.
In 2013, the award was granted to 24,811 people, of which 22 were from Armenia.
