First lesson held at Armenian Saturday school
The first lesson was held at Mesrob Mashtoz Armenian Saturday School in Stuttgart recently. Through the combined efforts of the Armenian cultural organizations of Eslingen and Stuttgart, the Armenian community of Baden-Wurtenberg opened a Saturday school for children between the ages of 6 and 16. Prior to the opening, the organizers invited the parents to a meeting during which they discussed the details on the “school” concept and organizational matters. The parents were also introduced to the schoolteachers.
Mesrob Mashtoz Armenian Saturday School will provide Armenian children with the opportunity to learn or improve their knowledge of the Armenian language. Alongside Armenian language studies, the students will also study history of Armenia and will spend their free time playing sports and music and painting. If necessary, the school will also provide the opportunity for additional courses on math, physics, chemistry, English and German. In addition, the school will organize field trips once a month in order to contribute to the students’ integration.
The school will also provide Armenian language courses for adults upon the parents’ request on the first and third Saturdays of every month (13:00-15:00). There will also be Armenian cuisine and music courses for adults starting in March 2014.
