On Feb. 14, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan received the delegation of the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China led by Deputy Head of the International Department of the Party’s Central Committee Chzhou Lee.

Greeting the delegates, Minister Nalbandyan mentioned with satisfaction that in accordance with the agreements reached between the heads of states, Armenia and China are expanding and strengthening their cooperation in different spheres.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, the leader of the delegation of China’s Communist Party conveyed the greetings and good wishes of China’s Foreign Minister Van Yi and underlined the fact that the purpose of the visit of the delegation of China’s Communist Party is to further deepen the active cooperation between the states and political parties.

Edward Nalbandyan and Chzou Lee mentioned that the two countries’ positions fall in line or are close to falling in line with the positions on international issues and that the high-level political dialogue contributes to that. Chzou Lee stressed the fact that China highly appreciates Armenia’s conventional position on “One China”.

Minister Nalbandyan presented Armenia’s views on issues in the region, and in that context, Chzou Lee emphasized China’s support to Armenia’s efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

During the meeting, the sides discussed several issues related to the strengthening of cooperation within international organizations, the deepening of decentralized cooperation and trade and economic relations, as well as the development of relations in the spheres of science, education and culture.

Minister Nalbandyan recalled with gratitude the technical assistance that China has been providing to Armenia since the declaration of independence.

In the context of expansion of cooperation in education, the sides attached importance to the establishment of a Chinese school in Yerevan in accordance with the agreement between the Presidents of Armenia and China, as well as the training of students at the universities of China and Armenia. The sides particularly emphasized the success of the Confucius Institute in Armenia.

Edward Nalbandyan asked to convey his good wishes to his Chinese counterpart, Minister Van Yi, reports the RA MFA press office to “Hayern Aysor”.
