“Period of the Armenian Genocide” two-volume study presented in Beirut

On Jan. 31, Hamazkayin’s Vahe Setyan Publishing House organized and the Armenian Genocide Centennial Lebanon Central Body sponsored the presentation of Katya Peltekian’s two-volume study entitled “Period of the Armenian Genocide”, which includes more than 1,000 articles, statements and other materials from British media (1914-23). The book was first presented at the Armenian Home in London in November 2013.

Among those attending the event were officials, Ambassadors accredited to Lebanon, religious leaders, as well as leaders and representatives of different Lebanese-Armenian community organizations.

Katya Peltekian presented some details regarding the activities carried out throughout 12 years.

Anita Libiar spoke on behalf of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Lebanon Central Body and praised the study.

In his speech, RA Ambassador to Lebanon Ashot Kocharyan congratulated Katya Peltekian for her highly important and extensive study. Kocharyan underlined the fact that the first international response to the Armenian Genocide was on May 24, 1915, when Great Britain, France and Russia adopted a joint declaration in which the violence against the Armenian people was characterized as a “crime against humanity and civilizations”. The Ambassador praised the goal-oriented and substantial activities of the Lebanese-Armenian community and especially the Armenian Genocide Centennial Lebanon Central Body and expressed certainty that there is a need to coordinate activities and combine efforts for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the restoration of historical justice, as well as universal condemnation and the elimination of consequences ahead of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, reports the RA MFA press office to “Hayern Aysor”.
