Kurdish leader Abdullah Ojalan, who has received a life sentencing in Turkey, has sent a letter to Armenians and has touched upon the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
As posted on Milliyet’s website, Ojalan has viewed the Armenian Genocide as “cruel” and has stated that the Armenians were able to stand strong due to their struggle and combined efforts and that that is simply a “miracle”.
Ojalan’s two-page letter has been submitted via the Turkish Ministry of Justice.
In the letter, Ojalan notes that the Kurds have never had a negative opinion of the Armenians. “Due to the poison “spilled” by the nationalist state, these lands have turned into a “cemetery” of nations and cultures,” Ojalan wrote and added that the Kurds have fought for not only the Kurds, but all nations and religions in the region.
Ojalan has sent the following message to the Armenians: “We’re not only fighting for the Kurds. Our struggle is for the freedom of the Armenians and then the other nations and their religions. Despite the difficulties, our search for peace won’t harm any nation.”
