The tension on the border has reached its peak for about two days; there has never been this much shooting.

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told the aforementioned to reporters during Wednesday’s funeral of Junior Sergeant Armen Hovhannisyan, who was killed as a result of the recent infiltration attempt by the Azerbaijani military diversion teams.

“It is clear that they fear that we will retaliate, and there will be retaliation; we will find the moment,” the minister added.

As per Ohanyan, Hovhannisyan and his friends at arms gave the first equivalent response to the adversary.

“The adversary suffered heavy losses; several casualties, more than twenty wounded,” Ohanyan stated.

He recalled that the Armenian military servicemen forced back three teams made up of the special training units of the adversary.

“It should be stressed that Armen’s feat is a heroic deed, and this should obligate us to be very accountable, even vengeful, toward the borders of our homeland,” Ohanyan stated.

The minister said that Azerbaijan’s recent military “activeness” is a provocation with the objective of showing, in the international arena, that there is tension, to sidetrack the Karabakh negotiation process.

“The Azerbaijani side does not show a constructive approach. All the provocations are made by the Azerbaijanis,” Seyran Ohanyan stated.
