On Jan. 17, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received French Senator Jean-Yves Leconte.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to Armenian-Turkish relations, the preparations for the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide and the French government’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan praised the French Senate’s role in the development of the French-Armenian friendly relations and the French-Armenian community’s active role, adding that the French-Armenian community’s active efforts set an example for many other Armenian communities of the Diaspora.

Senator Jean-Yves Leconte expressed gratitude to Minister Hranush Hakobyan for the reception, the exchange of views and for being introduced to the political situation that has been created and voiced hope that the next two years will be “years of opportunities” for Armenian-Turkish relations.
