Iran preparing for largest Armenian religious event of the year
Iran is preparing for the three-day annual Armenian religious event to be launched on 14 July. The 64th annual event will be held at St. Thaddeus Monastery in the city of Chaldoran (located in northwestern Iran) in the form of a pilgrimage and a religious ceremony, writes ifpnews.com, according to Armenpress. “Officials and representatives of governmental organizations are involved in organizing the largest annual meeting of the Armenians, that is, the Holy Mass,” writes the website.
The ceremony will gather thousands of Armenians from Iran and Armenia, as well as foreigners from Syria, Lebanon, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Germany and Canada. The organizers will make sure the event is held in safety and peaceful conditions through the provision of medical services, police supervision and more.
Governor of Chaldoran Karim Hoseinzadeh said the following: “Islam is a religion of peace and fraternity, and the organizing of religious ceremonies of followers of different religions in Islamic Iran attests to the peaceful co-existence of religions in Iran.”
