Armenia’s Ambassador visits Georgia’s Armenian-populated villages

On June 27, RA Ambassador to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan and the personnel of the Armenian Embassy visited the Armenian-populated villages in the Marneuli district of Kvemo-Kartli. During the visit, the Ambassador was escorted by acting head of Marneuli District Chaur Tabatadze and chairman of the sacrebulo (city council) of Marneuli district Amiran Giorgadze.
As reported the press service of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia to Hayern Aysor, the first stops were the Akhkyorpi, Chanakhchi, Khokhmel, Tsop, Gyulubagh and Khozhorni villages, which are near the border of Armenia and where the Ambassador had meetings with the Armenian residents.
Ambassador Sadoyan was told about the problems of the villagers related to the poor inter-rural roads, water supply, gasification and the state of schools and noted that he would raise those issues during his meetings with Georgian government officials.
Afterwards, the Ambassador visited Damia village where he met with the villagers and was introduced to the conditions of the renovated school.
The next stop was Shahumyan town, which is the most Armenian-populated town of Marneuli district. The Ambassador paid a visit to the local church, lit a candle and had a meeting with the locals, after which he had another meeting with the Armenians gathered in the schoolyard.
Afterwards, the Ambassador visited the Karmir and Mirzoyevka village. In Karmir village, Ambassador Sadoyan laid flowers in front of the cross-stone commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and had a meeting with the local villagers.
In his speeches, Ambassador Sadoyan called on the local Armenians to maintain their ties with the Armenian Embassy, adding that those ties will help provide solutions to several issues concerning the villagers.
Ambassador Sadoyan assured the villagers that such visits would be ongoing so that the local Armenians always feel the support of the Republic of Armenia.
During the visit, fiction books were donated to the village schools, while the schoolchildren received stationery.
