Diaspora Armenian doctors are ready to implement various programs and projects in Armenia

Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan received President of the Armenian Medical International Committee Vicken Sepilian. The sides discussed issues of mutual interest.

Vicken Sepilian stressed Diaspora Armenian doctors’ interest in the structural changes taking place in Armenia and their willingness to undertake new projects aimed at enhancing the healthcare sector in Armenia.

“Many Diaspora Armenian specialists, who are among the hundreds of members of the Committee, are ready to present various programs and projects to be carried out in Armenia. So, there is a need to coordinate them together. In this regard, we anticipate the guidance of the Ministry of Healthcare to implement those programs and projects more effectively and make them more targeted. The door is open for the establishment of new relations,” the AMIC President emphasized.

Agreeing with the AMIC President, the Minister of Healthcare stated the following: “Seeing various organizations implement the same projects is actually a serious problem. So, we need to make joint efforts and perhaps engage non-governmental organizations involved in the field.”

Outlining the future actions for the years 2018 and 2019, Vicken Sepilian said that various Armenian communities would be hosting conferences and meetings with representatives of non-governmental healthcare organizations and asked the Minister to participate in those meetings and conferences, if possible.

Minister Torosyan expressed willingness to consider various healthcare projects and keep the issues on hosting the congress of the Armenian Medical International Committee in Yerevan in 2019 on the agenda.

The Committee fully hopes that the Minister makes his contributions to the exchange of experience of Armenian doctors of Armenia and the Diaspora, the organizing of reciprocal visits, the implementation of new programs and projects and the right needs assessment.

In his turn, Minister Torosyan stressed that great importance is attached to the role of the Diaspora in the implementation of long-term programs aimed at enhancing the healthcare sector in Armenia.
