Artsakh doctors perform complicated surgeries for first time under direct supervision of Austrian-Armenian doctor Ara Oughourlian

From May 16 to 18, for the first time, the specialists of the Angiography Unit of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Artsakh performed surgical interventions of the pulses of the lower extremities.

Thanks to the targeted efforts of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Artsakh and the support of Austrian-Armenian vascular surgeon Ara Oughourlian from Salzburg, such interventions have been performed three times in Artsakh. In the previous cases, Ara Oughourlian performed them with the help of the local specialists, but this time, the surgical interventions were performed by the doctors of Artsakh under the direct supervision of the Diaspora Armenian vascular surgeon.

As reported the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Artsakh to Hayern Aysor, the specialists have previously held consultations with over 31 patients, selected those who needed surgeries and performed 16 surgeries. The surgeries were performed as part of a state order, and the stands and other necessary accessories were provided by the vascular surgeon as charity.

Ara Oughourlian stated that his goal is to exchange experience in the field of angiology and stressed that this precedent will become a good start for conducting independent surgeries in Artsakh.

The doctors of the Angiography Unit highlighted the fact that the problem with performing invasive surgeries of the pulses of the lower extremities has already been solved. They attached importance to the right diagnosis of patients in order to clarify which patients need interventions or open-heart surgeries and which patients need treatment with drugs.

The introduction of an angiographic center was a major step in the field of healthcare in Artsakh. Through the Siemens last generation angiographic device installed at the center, doctors place stands in the heart and the blood vessels of all other organs, as well as diagnose and provide treatment for those who have vascular diseases.
