On April 29, 2018, the Government of Japan announced the names of the foreign recipients of the 2018 Order of the Rising Sun.
As reported the press service of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Armenia, singer Charles Aznavour received the Order of the Rising Sun as a token of appreciation of his contributions to the development of music in Japan and the strengthening of the friendship between Japan and France.
“Mr. Aznavour, who is also the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Switzerland, actively pursues his musical career abroad, including in Japan. The Embassy of Japan in Armenia cordially congratulates Aznavour on receiving the Order,” the press release reads.
