Diaspora Minister receives Ambassador of Cyprus to Republic of Armenia Leonidas Markides
On March 6, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to the Russian Federation and concurrently to the Republic of Armenia Leonidas Markides.
Greeting the newly appointed Ambassador, Minister Hranush Hakobyan expressed certainty that the current high-level Armenian-Cypriot relations would grow further during his term in office. The Minister attached importance to revitalization of the economic and cultural ties between the two countries and presented the state policy, priority objectives and future actions of the Ministry of Diaspora.
The Ambassador of Cyprus extended thanks for the fruitful conversation and stated that this was his first time in Armenia and that he was very impressed. “Cypriot has an organized Armenian community, the presence of which is very important for maintaining stability in the country. Armenians make great contributions to the country’s politics, economy, culture and education,” the Ambassador added.
RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan stated that the year 2018 is a year of major anniversaries for Armenia since Armenians will be marking the 100th anniversary of the declaration of the First Republic of Armenia and the May Heroic Battles and the 2,800th anniversary of Yerevan and expressed confidence that events and exhibitions dedicated to the anniversaries would be organized in Cyprus as well.
