Prayer for Peace said in Armenian in Germany

Representatives of world religions and members of various religious organizations participated in the second Prayer for Peace Ceremony in Leer, Germany.

As reported the event’s organizing committee to Hayern Aysor, among the participants were representatives of the Armenian Apostolic, Catholic and Protestant Churches, as well as followers of Islam, Buddhism and Judaism. Members of the church of saints of the last days of Jesus Christ also said a Prayer for Peace. It should be mentioned that, in the beginning, German-Armenian Valery Tovmasyan said an Armenian-language prayer authored by Vicar of the Prelacy, Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Serovbe Isakhanyan. After the Prayer for Peace, pastor of the Armenian community of Northern Germany, Fr. Priest Hrach Bilijian gave his blessings, said the Peace Prayer in German and sang songs of Komitas.

In an interview, member of the organizing committee’s board of curators Albert Tovmasyan attached importance to the fact that Armenians participate in such events. According to him, the Armenian-language prayer proved once again that we Armenians are a peace-loving nation and that what is important for us is not only the security of our own borders, but also peace in all parts of the world, starting from Syria and stretching to Afghanistan and Latin America. In the speeches that they gave at the end of the ceremony, representatives of the municipal authorities expressed special gratitude to the Armenians for their participation and reminded everyone that the Armenians were the first to adopt Christianity as a state religion. The representatives also particularly praised the text of the Prayer for Peace in Armenian.
