Reception dedicated to 26th anniversary of formation of Armenian Army hosted in Tbilisi

On January 26, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia hosted an official reception attended by Minister of Defense of Georgia Levan Izoria; First Deputy Minister of Defense Lela Chikovani; Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major-General Vladimer Chachibaya; former Minister of Defense, General Davit Tevzadze; heads of departments and services of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces; representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; representatives of accredited diplomatic corps and the military-diplomatic corps; military experts; Armenian Members of the Parliament of Georgia, as well as clergymen and several representatives of Georgian-Armenian community organizations.

As reported the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia to Hayern Aysor, in his welcoming remarks, military attaché of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia, Colonel Samvel Ramazyan presented the symbol of the day and the role and significance that the Armenian armed forces have had throughout the history of the Armenian people. He also touched upon the process of formation and the history of the Armenian Army. Talking about the centuries-old military cooperation between Georgia and Armenia, the speaker particularly touched upon the historic episodes in which the Georgians and Armenians have fought against foreign invaders for their freedom.

In his speech, Minister of Defense of Georgia Levan Izoria emphasized the importance of the historically established partnership between the Georgians and Armenians, placing emphasis on the need for development of the military cooperation for the benefit of the security of both countries and regional security. The Minister touched upon the Georgian-Armenian friendship and indicated the fact that Georgia always views Armenia as a friendly country.

In his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan stated the major role that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia play in ensuring Armenia’s security.

Duaye of the military-diplomatic corps of Georgia, military attaché of the Czech Republic Stefan Grivalsky wished the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia success in their daily activities, expressing certainty that the current generation of Armenian military figures will always stay true to the rich historic traditions passed on by their predecessors.

The speeches were followed by an official reception that featured performances of Georgian and Armenian songs and dances.
