President informed on preparations for three major national events to be held in 2018

President Serzh Sargsyan today held a consultation during which correspondents delivered reports on the preparations for the three major events to be held in Armenia this year, including the Francophonie Summit, the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia and the heroic Battles of May and the events dedicated to the 2,800th anniversary of the foundation of Yerevan. The reports also featured information about completion of the assignments that the President of the Republic had given during the consultation held on October 21, 2017.
From the outset of the consultation, the President of the Republic stated that he expected an objective conversation over organizational, content-based and financial and economic issues since, according to the President, there is not much time left for preparations and it is necessary to treat the timetable with full responsibility and follow it strictly. According to the President of the Republic, proper conduct of such national events since independence will be a unique test of maturity for the Republic of Armenia.
Edward Nalbandyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and vice-chairman of the inter-agency commission established by the Decree of the President of the Republic, delivered a report on the preparations for the Francophonie Summit to be held in Yerevan (11-12 October 2018) and the events to be held as part of the Summit.
Vahe Stepanyan, Chief of Staff of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and secretary of the state commission established by the Decree of the President of the Republic, delivered a report on the activities that have already been carried out in preparation for the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia and the heroic Battles of May and the future actions that are proposed under the action plan for the celebration.
Taron Margaryan, Mayor of Yerevan and vice-chairman of the anniversary commission established by the Decree of the President of the Republic, presented the program and timetable of events for the city-wide celebrations dedicated to the 2,800th anniversary of the foundation of Yerevan to be held on 29-30 September 2018 and the preparatory actions that have already been completed with respect to several events.
The heads of interested ministries and government agencies participating in the consultation delivered reports on the process of completion of the assignments given during the previous consultation held by the President of the Republic, including transport and communication, aviation, the holding of cultural events, the organizing of activities with mass media outlets, the design of logos, commemorative gifts and the works carried out in several other directions until now and the future actions.
