Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lebanon to the Republic of Armenia Maya Dagher today presented her credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

Congratulating the Ambassador on her appointment, the President of the Republic expressed confidence that she would put in her utmost efforts for the development and strengthening of the relations between the two countries. President Sargsyan gladly stated that the relations between Armenia and Lebanon, being based on the centuries-old friendship between the two nations, are growing deeper and stronger year after year. According to the President, throughout the past 25 years following the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have succeeded in building such relations that characterize the high-level political dialogue and mutual trust, as well as the close cooperation in all sectors of mutual interest.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the authorities and people of the friendly Lebanon for the generosity that they have been showing towards the Lebanese-Armenians for decades, which has provided the Lebanese-Armenians with the opportunity to not only preserve their identity, but also grow and show active participation in the socio-economic life of the country.

Ambassador Maya Dagher expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic for the reception and congratulatory remarks and shared the President’s view that even though the bilateral interstate relations only have a history of 25 years, they are very strong and are based on the friendship between the two nations.

Ambassador Dagher praised the Armenian community of Lebanon, which actively participates in the development of the country.

With satisfaction, the interlocutors stated that Armenia and Lebanon are also cooperating actively within international organizations. Both the President of the Republic and the Ambassador of Lebanon attached importance to the growing interest of Lebanese businessmen in Armenia’s economy, emphasizing the need for promotion of investments and revitalization of interactions between businessmen.

The current foreign affairs and challenges were also addressed during the meeting.
