Vatican issues special stamp portraying Pope Francis with Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial in background

The Vatican has issued special postage stamps dedicated to the visits of Pope Francis throughout 2016.
Among the stamps is a stamp devoted to the historic visit to Armenia, portraying Pope Francis and the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial in the background.
The Vatican’s official website states that the stamp was created by Daniela Longo, who portrayed the moment when the Pope was saying a prayer at Tsitsernakaberd.
On June 25, 2016, Pope Francis visited Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex where he paid tribute to the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.
Pope Francis wrote the following in the Book of Honorable Guests of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute: “Here I pray with sorrow in my heart so that a tragedy like this never again occurs, so that humanity will never forget and will know how to defeat evil with good. May God endow peace and consolation to the beloved Armenian people and to the whole world. May God protect the memory of the Armenian people. Memory should never be diluted or forgotten. Memory is the source of peace and the future.”
Pope Francis visited Armenia on 24-26 June, and the title of the visit was “Visit to the First Christian Nation”, writes Armenpress.
