Structure of Tigranakert Fortress built in 1970 damaged during earthquake

The earthquake that struck Azerbaijan on the night of 15 November left a part of the Fortress of Tigranakert damaged. The part of the fortress was built in 1970.

This is what was posted on the Facebook page of Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism of Artsakh Sergey Shahverdyan, reported Artsakhpress.

“Consequences of the nighttime earthquake in Tigranakert: Fortunately, historic structures have not been damaged. The part of the structure built in 1970 has been damaged,” wrote Shahverdyan.

Let us remind that an earthquake with a 5.3 magnitude struck Azerbaijan. As reported the website of the U.S. National Geological Service, the earthquake was felt at 23:48 in the eastern-southern-eastern sector just 20 km away from Barda.

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia reports that on 15 November at 23:48 local time (19:48 Greenwich time), the Seismological Network of the Seismic Defense Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia recorded an earthquake with 40.15 degrees width to the north and 47.10 degrees length to the east (Azerbaijan, 68 km south of Mingechaur city), with a 10 km depth of the hotbed and with a 5.3 magnitude.

The force of the underground quake at the epicenter was 7 points.

The epicenter of the earthquake is 79 km away from the state border of the Republic of Armenia.

The earthquake was felt in almost the entire territory of the Republic of Armenia and in the Republic of Artsakh with 2-3 points and 3-4 points, respectively.
