Arevik Tanashyan’s concerts and charity acts continue

On October 3, Gyumri celebrated the 105th anniversary of the creation of Armen Tigranyan’s opera “Anush”. At the initiative of merited cultural figure Hasmik Kirakosyan, the opera was performed at Gyumri State Drama Theater Vardan Achemyan through a concert featuring performances by Gyumri State Symphony Orchestra (artistic director and principal conductor Yervand Varosyan) and the choir of the Armenian Youth Center in Gyumri. The role of Anush was performed by recipient of international awards, opera singer Arevik Tanashyan (Leonora), the song of Saro was performed by Karapet Manukyan, and Sergey Zakaryan performed the song of Mosi.

“I was lucky to perform the role of Anush once again. It was an immense responsibility since we had to present the opera with its unique and dainty modulations. The concert was highly anticipated in the city and was received with warm rounds of applause. As an artist, I feel very happy when I see my city in the heart of culture and vice versa. After all, let’s not forget that Gyumri is the center for arts and crafts in Armenia,” Arevik Tanashyan stated in an interview with Hayern Aysor.

On November 1 and 9, the Gyumri State Drama Theater after Vardan Achemyan hosted Arevik Tanashyan’s concert featuring performances by the Armenian Ornaments Dance Group (artistic director and dance instructor Bagrat Hovhannisyan). During the more than two-hour concert, Arevik Tanashyan entertained the audience with her performances of Armenian folk, national and patriotic songs and the songs of Armenian troubadours.

At the end of the November 1 concert, Arevik Tanashyan was awarded the Wapa Gold Medal by the International Society for the Performing Arts (founding president Arman Ghukasyan).

All proceeds from the concert will go to the Gyumri without Shacks Foundation.

Let us add that this is not Arevik Tanashyan’s first charity act. In 2016, the singer performed in Lebanon and transferred all proceeds from her concert to the Syrian-Armenian Relief Fund.
