RA Consul General in Aleppo Armen Sargsyan meets with President of Aleppo Chamber of Commerce in Syria

On November 1, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Aleppo Armen Sargsyan had a meeting with President of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce in Syria Majd Addin Dabbagh. The entire staff of the executive board of the Chamber was attending the meeting.

The sides discussed a broad range of issues related to restoration of the previous trade and economic cooperation with Aleppo, as well as revitalization and deepening of ties between business circles.

In the beginning, Armen Sargsyan talked about Armenia’s trade and economic potential and investment opportunities and stated that Armenia, as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, can provide wide opportunities to the businessmen of Aleppo to establish their joint industries and export their products to the large-scale market of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The sides also addressed the perspectives of organizing of trade and economic expos in Syria and Armenia. There was a proposal to grant a free and appropriate space to the Armenian party to organize permanent exhibition-sales of Armenian products.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of deepening of relations between the business circles of Armenia and Aleppo and the future activation of reciprocal visits of delegations. In this context, it was mentioned that the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce is ready to commission a delegation to Yerevan to get acquainted with the opportunities for cooperation on the spot.

The sides also discussed the possibility of the signing of a memorandum of mutual understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia and the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce with the view to launching coordinated activities and ensuring progress in that direction.

At the end of the meeting, Armen Sargsyan also talked about the results of the visit that RA Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan had paid to Syria on 28-29 October.
