Moscow respected one of the founders of nuclear sector in USSR Richard Soghomonyan

“Citizens of Moscow paid their respects to the memory of one of the founders of the nuclear sector in the USSR Richard Soghomonyan, who has made great contributions to the creation of the uranium enrichment industry.
Members of the unified youth council of the fuel company of Rosatom State Corporation laid flowers near the tomb of Soghomonyan,” the company’s press release reads, writes Rusarminfo.
Richard Soghomonyan made great contributions to the planning, construction and exploitation of uranium enrichment factories, which operate to this day.
Richard Soghomonyan was born on October 9, 1907. In 1947, he was hired by the First General Department adjunct to the Council of Ministers of the USSR, which was in charge of coordinating the engineering developments in all directions of the Soviet nuclear plan. Between 1949 and 1953, he served as Head of the Industry and Technologies Division of the above-mentioned Department, and from 1956 to 1974, he was the Head of the General Technologies Department of the Ministry of Medium Machine Building of the USSR. Soghomonyan died on November 6, 1981.
