Mosaic of 16th century Armenian dragon carpet unveiled in Yerevan

Upon the recommendation of Yerevan Municipality, Megerian Carpets has unveiled the mosaic of an Armenian dragon carpet near Swan Lake in Yerevan. Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan also attended the solemn unveiling of the mosaic made with colorful and semi-precious stones.

As reported Yerevan Municipality, the mosaic of the dragon carpet was made from nearly 900,000 pieces of stones, including marble, granite, azurite and tuff-sandstone. In his welcoming remarks, President of Megerian Carpets Raffi Megerian expressed gratitude to the mayor of Yerevan for his ongoing support to the company’s projects and emphasized that the proposal of Yerevan Municipality is a unique step and another opportunity to present Armenian cultural heritage in this way as well.

Advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan, chief designer of the city of Yerevan Gaga Amatouni stated that this is another successful example of the cooperation between Yerevan Municipality and the private sector and that the cooperation will be ongoing.

It should be mentioned that the mosaic reflects the 16th century Armenian dragon carpet showcased at the Natural History Museum in London.
