Welcome to the Armenian school in Mislata

The Armenian Sunday school in Mislata opened its doors for Armenian children of the Valencia region. The school has been working hard to teach Armenian children, teens and young people the Armenian language and instill in them the national identity for the past 13 years now.

As reported Ararat Armenian Association of Mislata to Hayern Aysor, during the 2017-18 Academic Year, the school will have 34 pupils, and this number is 11 more than the previous year. For the first time ever, the number of Armenian children born in Spain exceeds the number of Armenian children born in Armenia. This is a major indicator since the Armenian families having settled in Spain and having given birth to children are concerned about their children’s Armenian upbringing and knowledge of the Armenian language.

This year, preschool-age children will attend the school for the first time. There will be 12 pupils between the ages of 3-5 in this class.

The Armenian alphabet will be taught by 30-year-old Satenik Hovsepyan, who has been living outside of the homeland for 24 years, is fluent in Armenian and, with the call of the blood, wishes to learn how to read and write in her native language as well.

The hard-working members of Ararat Armenian Association, as well as teachers Astghik Saghatelyan, Gaiane Ghazaryan, Svetlana Karapetyan and Ararat Ghukasyan will provide their pro-national and unconditional services at the Armenian school.

On the first day of the Academic Year, the pupils had organized a short homecoming event for the newcomers. They greeted the newcomers with songs and poems and led them to their new school

And so, let’s wish the Armenian school success, the teachers-fruitful work, and the pupils-knowledge full of ?Armenianness’.
