Kherson to host Armenian Culture Week

On August 22, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Odessa Haik Ghulyan had a meeting with Mayor of Kherson Vladimir Mikolaenko.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the Armenian-Ukrainian bilateral agenda and the part of the agenda related to decentralized cooperation and pinpointed the actions to be taken to deepen the relations between the city of Kherson and the administrative and territorial units of Armenia.
The Consul General of the Republic of Armenia highlighted the importance of the strengthening and development of decentralized cooperation in the spheres of culture, trade, economy and tourism.
The Mayor of Kherson stated that the municipal authorities are interested in the deepening of cooperation with the cities of the Republic of Armenia. Vladimir Mikolaenko highlighted the major role that the Armenian community of Kherson plays in city life, stating, with satisfaction, that Armenian language courses will be launched at one of the middle schools in Kherson starting from September 1 this year.
The interlocutors touched upon the perspectives of the trade turnover and the development of tourism between Kherson and Armenia’s cities.
During the meeting, the sides reached an agreement on holding an Armenian Culture Week in Kherson in September. The weeklong events will be dedicated to the 26th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia and will help present the potential of the Republic of Armenia in terms of economy and tourism and the historical and cultural heritage of the country.
