First Armenian tablet was presented and donated to the Prime Minister during industry council’s session

The Industry Council adjunct to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia held a subsequent session at the RA Government today. The session was moderated by Prime Minister, chairman of the Council Tigran Sargsyan.
The session began with a presentation of the first Armenian tablet (Armtab) and the first Armenian Smartphone (Armphone). Before moving to the agenda, the Prime Minister informed that the Armenian-American Technology and Science Dynamics Inc./Armtab Technologies has produced the first Armenian tablets in Armenia. The company’s president Vahan Shakaryan said the company already has test tablets with 7.85, 9, 9.7 and 10.1 inch screens, 3G and WiFi connection, as well as the first Armenian Smartphone (Armphone). Shakaryan also mentioned that the tablets are no different from other tablets in terms of quality and that the price will be lower than the tablets of foreign trademarks. The software and hardware of the tablets are designed in Armenia and are compiled in the United States and Hong Kong. The company plans on starting mass production and sale of Armenian tablets in January-February 2014 and hiring 25-50 high-class experts from Armenia. The perspectives of applying those tablets in Armenia’s market and in different spheres and organizing exports to the international market have been discussed.
Taking the opportunity, Mr. Shakaryan donated the first Armenian tablet to Prime Minister Sargsyan and voiced hope that it would helpful him in his daily activities. The head of government assigned to organize a presentation and introduce the public to the first Armenian tablets.
Later, the members of the council presented the Development Strategy for Textile and Knitwear in Armenia, the Development Strategy for Shoe Production in Armenia and the 2014-2016 Light Industry Action Plan, which ensures the implementation of the two Strategies. The members also addressed the current situation and tendencies, the proposed directions for strategy development, as well as the specific action plan and budget stemming from the above-mentioned. After a long discussion and confirmation of the presented documents, the head of government assigned to prepare a memorandum of cooperation in fields for the representatives of the private sector to sign.
The changes made to the 2012-2015 Action Plan for Precise Engineering were also confirmed during the discussion on another item on the agenda.
