Armenian translation of Bible also featured at exhibition in Berlin

On July 14, the Pergamon Museum in Berlin hosted the opening ceremony of the joint international exhibition held by the Berlin State Library and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Germany Ashot Smbatyan.

As reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor, the exhibition showcases the oldest translations of the Bible in different languages of the world. For the first time, the Armenian translation of the Bible is featured along with those samples.

The information panel devoted to the exhibition states that “Armenia became the first Christian nation in 301 and the creation of the Armenian alphabet by Mesrop Mashtots in 405 provided the opportunity to translate the Bible into Armenian.”
