The final stage of the Best Athletic Family competition for the Prize of the President of the Republic of Armenia was launched at the major sport complex in Tsaghkadzor and is being held for families of persons (father or mother) with disability and in wheelchairs, reported the press service of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia to Hayern Aysor.

According to the event’s organizer and the main representative, RA Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Khachik Asryan, the 2017 Best Athletic Family competition has gathered 1,516 families (4,548 people). “For comparison, there were 54 families participating in the first competition in 2004, meaning 162 people. I would also like to inform that the budget for the competition has increased, going from AMD 16,000,000 to AMD 155,840,800,” Asryan said.

Let us add that AMD 36,600,000 has been saved at the expense of financial awards in the first stage of the 2017 Best Athletic Family competition, and the RA Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs is holding seven new mass sporting events.

As the Deputy Minister mentioned, since 2015, without adding to the budget, the Best Athletic Family competition has laid the foundation for the conduct of mass sporting events that gather all layers of society, starting from preschool-age children, schoolchildren, students and residents of cities and villages to middle-age people, elderly, persons with disabilities and children in need of care and protection.
