Levon Martirosyan appointed Armenia’s Ambassador to Canada

President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has issued a decree on appointing Levon Martirosyan Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada.

The presidential decree reads as follows: “Governed by point 8 of Article 55 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia amended in 2005, I decide:

To appoint Levon Martirosyan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Canada (seat in Ottawa).”

The following is the biography of Levon Martirosyan:

Born on 19 February 1976 in Yerevan

In 1997-99, he served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

In 1997, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University.

In 2002, he obtained an MA in International Law from the Department of Law at the University of Essex.

Levon Martirosyan has participated in several programs and courses, including the John Smith Educational Program for young public and political figures (2000, Great Britain), “Leaders of the 21st Century” Higher Executive Course (2003, John Kennedy School of Management, University of Harvard, USA), “Individual of the Future” political program of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008, France). In 2008, he participated in the U.S. presidential elections as an international observer at the invitation of the U.S. Department of State.

Levon Martirosyan is a practicing lawyer.

In July 2007, he was appointed Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

2008-12: Assistant to the President of the Republic of Armenia

In 2001, he established the Union of Young Democrats NGO.

In 2003, he established the British Alumni Association NGO.

Since 2007, he is the co-founder of the Unified Liberal National Party (ULNP) and General Secretary of ULNP. In December 2007, based on his application for resignation, he was dismissed from the position of general secretary. Since 2007, he is a member of the ULNP board and secretariat.

On 6 May 2012, he was elected Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia under the proportional electoral order, representing the Republican Party of Armenia.

He is married, has two sons.
