Davit Babayan: “This is simply terrorism”

On July 11, the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be held under the auspices of the Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group.
On July 10 at around 17:40, serviceman of the Defense Army of Artsakh Vazgen Poghosyan (father’s name: Zhirayr, born in 1997) received a lethal injury after a gunshot fired by the adversary in the maintenance station of one of the military units of the Defense Army of Artsakh stationed in the eastern direction. Spokesman of the President of the Artsakh Republic Davit Babayan was asked if Azerbaijan’s subsequent aggression was due to the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
“There is an incomprehensible regularity that they violate the ceasefire regime before, during and after such meetings. There is no particular reason. The reason is that Azerbaijan is a terrorist and Fascist state. If Azerbaijan didn’t violate the ceasefire regime at all and showed that it has a constructive position, that would be more logical, but terrorists don’t have healthy logic,” the Spokesman of the President of the Artsakh Republic said in an interview with 168.am.
According to Davit Babayan, Azerbaijan is not achieving any strategic goal and is not completing any major task with these actions. “This is illogical. This is simply terrorism.”
As far as the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs is concerned, Babayan said that the Artsakh Republic attaches importance to any similar meeting since the meetings foster maintenance of peace and stability. “They foster maintenance of peace and stability, especially in such cases because the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the parties express their views, and the position of the international community on all this is naturally presented.”
When asked about the situation on the border, Babayan said the following: “The situation is the same every day. Everything is under control. We suffered a severe loss yesterday and all of us are in mourning, but the situation is under control in general.”
