Medal-winning Turkish figure nominated to be mayor of Istanbul

During a visit to the United States, leader of Turkey’s major “People’s Republic” oppositionist party Kemal Kelechdaroglu announced that the party’s candidate for mayor of Istanbul is Mustafa Saregul.

According to the Turkish OdaTV website, leader of the political party Kemal Kelechdaroglu held the opening of his party’s representation during his meetings in Washington. During the opening ceremony, he announced that the party’s candidate for the mayor of Istanbul is incumbent Mayor of Shishli Mustafa Saregul.

Mustafa Saregul is the first Turkish mayor who has received a special medal after Patriarch Hovhannes Kolot by the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople for supporting the renovation of Armenian churches and schools and the events organized by ethnic minorities in Istanbul. “Dzezi Shat Gsirem” (I Love You All Very Much in Armenian),” Mustafa Saregul had said in Armenian as he expressed his words of gratitude.
